Help guide series for our Basic Accounting product

1. Navigate to MTD for Income Tax

First, go to your dashboard and click the MTD for income tax widget.

2. Select and Review the Relevant Period

Once on the quarterly updates overview page, choose the period you want to manage. You will see three distinct tabs to help you review your data:

  • HMRC: Displays the data that has already been successfully submitted to HMRC.
  • Clear Books: Shows the current transactions recorded in your accounts for that specific period.
  • Compare: Highlights any differences between the two tabs, such as new transactions or corrections made since your last submission.

3. Resubmit or Roll Forward

If you need to update your figures, you have two options:

  • Option A: Resubmit immediately. Switch to the Clear Books tab and proceed with the submission from there. Note: HMRC only stores the latest submission for each period, so this will overwrite their previous data.
  • Option B: Wait for the next quarter. You can choose not to resubmit right away. Any corrections or new transactions recorded for a previous period will naturally flow into your next quarterly update.
