How it Works

Connecting your Tide bank account to Clear Books allows you to automatically import your transactions without needing to log in to your online banking. Powered by a secure bank feed that updates up to four times a day, this integration helps you manage your small business finances quickly and efficiently.

How to Connect Your Account

Follow these simple steps to link Tide to your online accounting software:

  1. Navigate to Money > Bank accounts in Clear Books and click the Manage bank feeds button.
  2. Optional: If this is your first time adding a bank feed, read the brief introduction on how they work and click I Agree. If you've set up a feed before, skip to Step 3.
  3. Click the Add feed button.
  4. Click Continue to authorise Plaid (our secure third-party API provider) to access and share your Tide bank data with Clear Books.
  5. Select Tide from the list of available banks.
  6. You will be securely redirected to a Tide webpage to log in and complete the authentication process.
  7. Once authenticated, select the specific accounts you want to connect and click Continue.
  8. Finally, link your new Tide feed to the corresponding bank account within Clear Books.

What Happens Next?

Your first bank statement will immediately import into Clear Books. You can find it under the Money > Bank import > All bank statements menu—simply click on the statement to begin explaining your transactions. Going forward, the feed will run automatically in the background, importing new transactions four times a day.
